Destrehan Real Estate
Destrehan is located in St. Charles Parish, along the levee up the Mississippi River from Harahan. The bridge connecting Destrehan and Luling on the West Bank provides Destrehan convenient access to both sides of the River. Destrehan is but one of the “hidden delights” of the river as it winds its way toward the Gulf.

Destrehan Homes for sale
River Road and Destrehan Plantation are two key landmarks of this neighborhood. River Road begins in New Orleans and makes its way up the river all the way to Baton Rouge. Winding its way through Destrehan, not only does the Road connect this community to the two major metropolitan areas, but also many historical plantation homes and real estate such as the Creole Laura Plantation and the famous Oak Alley. The Road also connects Destrehan to seasonal events such as the annual Christmas Eve Bonfires in Gramercy.
Destrehan Plantation is located in the heart of the community, off River Road. Though it fell into disrepair in the 1960’s, the plantation has been restored and is a destination spot for tourists and those with an interest in historical places. The first aspect one notices about the Plantation house in Destrehan is its symmetry. The white columns perfectly complement the roof and fireplace of this home. Built in 1787, this pre-Civil War home is unique for its great age and stately bearing.
Many of the homes in Destrehan have modeled this architecture. If one examines the roofs and columns one will find traces of the majestic nature of a plantation home. The neighborhood of Destrehan offers spacious single family homes and multiple story homes, all with the ambience of a small southern town. The live oaks sit serenly in the afternoon, the Spanish moss swaying gently in the breeze.
